Since I watched the very first episode of Bridgerton I was obsessed. Inaccurate historical fiction with many creative liberties taken on wardrobe is my favorite genre (think Reign). I’m trying to savor Season 2, so this wedding is based solely on Season 1. Let me know if I need to make another wedding inspired by the second season.
Colors
While many characters don jewel tones, Daphne usually wears white or pale blue. Since she is the Season’s Diamond, we’ll focus on these colors.
I couldn’t ignore the Bridgerton house covered in wisteria, so we’ll also add light purple into the mix.
Pops of other pale colors offer a nice contrast and more depth to the palette.
Décor
In my opinion, the most important décor element for this wedding is the flowers. To match the show’s aesthetic you have to go big or go home with large floral installations, plenty of greenery, and full, wispy, oversized bouquets.
I recommend flowers with large blooms like roses, Juliet roses, hydrangeas, peonies, camellias, ranunculus, or dahlias. For height and whimsy I suggest lily of the valley, baby’s breath, sweat pea, delphinium, stock, or greenery. And, of course, wisteria.
Candlesticks, full place settings, and goblets add to the look of opulence you would expect from a ball.
What the Main Two Wear
For attire, I would use Daphne and the Duke for inspiration.
The bride could wear an empire waist, puff sleeves, and possibly even gloves. Her hair would likely be in an up do.
The groom could wear a tux with tails and could consider a top hat. The more formal the better!
Wedding Party
The level of formality should continue from the “main characters” to the bridal party and guests.
Bridesmaids should wear long gowns in wisteria purple, pale blue, or another subtle color. They could carry bouquets or fans. Groomsmen and ring bearers should dress similarly to the groom. I love the idea of the flower girl in a full skirt with a flower crown to accessorize.
For this event, I would suggest a formal dress code. Guests could find inspiration under my What To Wear (Guest Edition) in the Formal/ Black Tie Optional or Black Tie and Beyond sections (depending on your preference).
Food
Though I doubt a buffet would suffice for the Bridgertons, any sort of plated meal would be appropriate.
A multi-tiered cake would the perfect statement and could be topped with or surrounded by flowers.
Would you like taking on a wedding as grand as this one or is a casual day more your style? I would die of happiness to be able to attend a wedding such as this though I’m not sure I would want to host one.
