If you’ve come in contact with me in the past year, you likely know that I become infatuated with Survivor. I’ve watched every season, I have an app of Survivor-inspired games on my phone, my sister got me bug snacks for Christmas (to practice the eating challenges), and I desperately want to go on the show. How could I not make a Survivor wedding??
The early seasons took place in Australia, Africa, Thailand, South America, etc. Now, they are just in Fiji but some of my pins pull from the earlier settings. This wedding combines ideas other boards like Tropical Wedding, Rattan Wedding, and Beach Wedding with some games and tribe paraphernalia added in.
Colors
I think any colors could work for this wedding. Survivor likes to use combinations like purple and orange or blue and red for tribal colors. Those wouldn’t be my first pick for a color palette but they could certainly do. I lean towards bright, tropical greenery punctuated with bold floral colors. Light and airy, beachy blues, or earthy tones could work too!
Décor
The décor possibilities are endless. Tropical fruits and flowers, odes to previous Survivor settings, shells, candles and campfires- it all works!
What the Main Two Wear
Once again, you can’t go wrong! Personally, I think casual, boho, flowy suits the theme best, but anything goes. I’ll point out a REAL Survivor wedding that is the perfect inspo at the end.
Wedding Party
Yes, I’m a broken record, but choose whatever you like! Whatever colors you pick will look great. My favorite inspiration is the mismatched large floral prints on the board below.
Food
I recommend against trying to serve your guests bugs, fish with no spices, or “popcorn” coconut (iykyk), but you can certainly take ideas from the show. In the earlier seasons, contestants often ate local cuisine. Fish, coconuts, and fruits tend to be staples.
I can’t talk about this wedding without mentioning the wedding of Rob and Amber Mariano. Rob and Amber met Season 8 of Survivor and went on to have a beachy wedding in the Bahamas. I was unaware of their wedding until I stumbled upon People Magazine’s I Do! The Great Celebrity Weddings from 2005 (copy on Amazon) at a thrift store. I was flipping through the pages when I saw my favorite celebrity couple- Rob and Amber. And, yes, I bought the book just because of them. Page 65 shows their cake- 5 tiers with white-chocolate shells and pearls. Page 109 shows their reception décor in white and blues with hanging paper lanterns. Pages 112 and 113 show the bride, groom, bridesmaid, and flower girl attire (light, airy, flowy, and blues) along with other wedding details. Amber’s gown was made by family friend Arlette Kronk and would still be in style today. I highly recommend watching the tv special, Rob and Amber Get Married ( I couldn’t find the full episode anywhere but I did find it in 13 parts on YouTube) to really experience it.
Would you ever have a tv show themed wedding or do you like the more subtle approach?
