The boho desert aesthetic has been trendy for a while now and I hope it never disappears. Ever since my trip to Arizona three years ago I haven’t been able to get enough of this vibe. The desert theme would work well for an elopement, mini-mony, or full-sized event.
Colors
My color inspiration comes from the surrounding landscape- the earth, rock formations, vegetation, and sky.
Terracotta, burnt orange, peach, rust, blush, cream and tan, brown, sage green, gold and champagne. All of these colors work to create an earthy, rich color palette.
Décor
One of the things I love about this theme is that the landscape can be your decoration. The deep colored rocks of Sedona or the desert sands with sparse vegetation create the perfect backdrop. The cactuses or Joshua trees add height and interest. If you prefer, you could always choose a more formal setting like the Phoenix Botanical gardens or an outdoor courtyard.
Tablescapes and additional décor can be as minimal or grand as you like. A few cactuses, succulents, or air plants may be enough for you, or you may choose to add billowing floral installations in the aforementioned colors, candles, rugs, café lights, and more.
I have such a variety of bouquets and flower-types pinned that it would be difficult to mention all of the possibilities. If you stick to your chosen color palette you can’t go wrong. You may like greenery and succulents, earth-toned blooms, or dried flowers.
What the Main Two Wear
Once again, there are so many options for what the Main Two can wear. Personally, I love the more boho look with gold, champagne, cream, tan, or brown but the more traditional white dress and black or navy suit looks amazing as well!
Wedding Party
The same goes for the wedding party. The mismatched look works well whether its with different styles in the same color or entirely different suits and dresses.
Food
I do have some food inspiration pinned but it is more for the look rather than the actual food (Did you know, though, that you can eat cactus? It tastes like a bell pepper!). Cakes topped with a cactus, naked cakes, terracotta colored macarons all act as additional décor.
How would you prefer to do the desert theme? Would you elope with just you and your sweetheart with the landscape as your décor or would you rather have a “traditional” wedding venue with a bridal party, large guest count, and more decorations?
